Membership Policies

Meetings
Meetings are held every other Wednesday throughout the school year at 5:30 p.m. Meetings last approximately 1 hour. Attendance is mandatory for these meetings, unless there is a conflict with class or work, in which case you must come by the Kelly Center to sign the minutes.

In order to be excused from a meeting, a member must contact the SF Director of Membership via email or phone prior to the meeting. The following will be considered as a valid excuse:

1. Personal illness

2. A job interview

3. Conflict with class

4. Any reasonable excuse that is approved by the officers/advisor

Tours
Each new member will be responsible for giving a weekly admission tour to prospective students. In addition, it is expected that each member keep current with the “Tour Notes” provided by the Admissions Office. Each Student Foundation meeting includes a speaker who will update the membership on the latest campus news and highlights.

What if I can’t make my tour?

1. Find a Student Foundation member to replace you.

2. Call your tour partner to let them know you can’t make your tour and inform him/her who will be your replacement.

3. Call the admissions office at extension 7490 and tell them that you will not be able to make your tour that day. Inform them of your replacement.

Winter Retreat
Each member is required to attend the Winter Retreat. Attendance is mandatory. The all-day retreat serves as a training session and provides the opportunity for members to get acquainted

Alumni Events
There are four major alumni weekends each year with Homecoming/Reunion Weekend being the largest. Each member will need to be available to work several different times during Homecoming. Each member is required to work 2 separate alumni events.

Thank-You Calling
Each member is required to spend one night each semester calling donors. Members will be given several dates to pick from during the semester. Thank-you calling begins at 6 p.m. and usually ends at 8 p.m. All calling will take place in the Alumni Office.

Senior Class Legacy
Senior members will participate in the Senior Class Legacy as a member of the Senior Gift Committee (SGC). During the spring semester of senior year, Student Foundation members transition to “SGC status”. All other programs planned by the leadership of Student Foundation will be optional, but participation in those programs and events is highly encouraged. Participation on the SGC is required and continues throughout the spring semester, as that is the peak marketing time for the program.

The Senior Gift Committee (SGC) consists of senior members of Student Foundation, as well as other campus leaders. The committee members’ primary responsibility is to market the Senior Class Legacy to their fellow classmates. Each committee member is asked to personally participate in the program with a $50 gift to TCU. In turn, the student’s name is engraved on a brick placed in the Senior Mall area in front of the library. In addition, the student has the opportunity to formally thank three individuals or couples in the Commencement Program. These individuals also receive a certificate.

Funds raised through the Senior Class Legacy will be used to provide scholarship support for future TCU students.

Other responsibilities of the SGC include attending two Senior Gift Committee meetings throughout the school year and successfully soliciting 10 graduating seniors to participate in the Senior Class Legacy.

Other Programs/Events
All other programs planned by the leadership of Student Foundation will be optional, but participation is highly encouraged.
